Bidding ended. Lot has been sold.

Provenance: The reverse with the seals of James Butler, 1st Duke of Ormonde, KG (1610-1688), the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, and James Medlycott (1658-1731) of Ven House, Milborne Port, and thence by descent. A label on the reverse is inscribed “Wouwerman from Ven, April 1868 WC Medlycott” and “Private Property” dating from the early 20th century.

Both paintings are in good country house condition in modern frames. Both panels require a clean and show evidence of discolouration to the varnish. One of the panels has some retouching and the other slightly more extensive retouching - probably associated with a campaign of restoration/cleaning in the 1970's or 1980's.

The frames are in good condition.
