Collection

On proof of payment, purchased lots will be available for collection from Sandford Orcas from Wednesday 6th March to Wednesday 13th March from 10am - 4pm, excluding the weekend 9th - 10th March. Whilst we are happy to provide assistance please bring the requisite people required to collect your purchases. All items not collected from Sandford Orcas Manor by 4pm Wednesday 13th March will be moved to Sackville-West, (Andover) at the buyer's risk and expense.

Specialist Items: Removal of all electrical fittings, garden effects and large furniture is entirely at the buyer's risk and expense. Please note that we will be unable to provide assistance with these items.


Storage Charges

Items removed to Sackville-West in Andover will be available for collection from 9am on Monday 18th March. A minimum storage charge of £20 (plus VAT) per lot, and a further storage charge of £3 (plus VAT) per lot, per part or full day thereafter. These charges will be the sole liability of the purchaser, and will be billed directly to them by Sackville West, (Andover). Sackville-West may be willing to adjust their charges if they are instructed by the purchaser to deliver to them. On payment of all sales and storage costs items will be available for collection by appointment from Sackville-West., (Andover). These charges are set by Sackville-West., (Andover); we recommend that you contact them directly regarding queries relating to these charges and other matters arising in relation to storage. enamelled in polychrome with eight men with linked arms, their names in scrolls, flanking an armorial motto “Vivant alle weiss brecken in Lobenstein” and dated “Anno 1709”, 18cm high x 12.5cm diameter

The motto can be translated: “Long life to all white bakers in Lobenstein”, which is a small town in Thuringiawald, Germany.

Provenance: According to family records this rare toasting glass was discovered in the flower vase cupboard at Bethany, Sherborne, the home of great aunt Mrs M.P. Palmer.

Provenance: These items were all found behind a lathe and plaster wall between the Gatehouse Anteroom and the upper part of the Red Room when the area was treated for dry rot in 1978. The conclusion is that they were hidden, on purpose, for "good luck" when the house was built circa 1550.
