Charles Scott served with the Durham Light Infantry during the Crimean War. The medal and the clasps are confirmed on the roll; Scott had previously served on Malta January 1st 1851 to March 31st 1851.

John Boardman was born in Bolton in 1840. In civilian life, he worked as a Labourer, he attested in 1858, aged 18. Boardman was based in the West Indies and served in New Zealand for two and a half years. He was discharged at Manchester on April 11th 1868.

Charles Donaldson was born in Sheffield in 1817. In civilian life, he worked as a Collier; he attested aged twenty in 1837. He served in the 68th for over twenty-one years, two and a half of which were spent in New Zealand.

James Canning was born in Londonderry in 1828. He attested, aged 27 in 1855, he had been a Servant before joining the army. He was discharged on February 19th 1877, after having served nearly twenty years; Canning served over two and a half years in New Zealand.

George McCann was born in Seagoe, Lurgan, Armagh, in 1837. He attested in November 1854, aged 17, giving his occupation as Weaver. He served for 21 years, seeing active service in the Crimean War and nearly three years in New Zealand. McCann was discharged at Sunderland on July 29th 1876.

Edward Padden was born in Gateshead in 1869. He was a Labourer and had previously served for seven years in the Northumberland Fusiliers. He attested for the Durham Light Infantry on 25th April 1899.
