Robert Adamson was born in Spennymoor on August 9th 1889. He landed in France with Durham Light Infantry on April 20th 1915. He was later transferred to the Worcester Regiment, 10th Bn; while fighting at Messines on April 10th 1918, he was captured and taken prisoner by the Germans. He was repatriated after the war and discharged.

During the Great War, he served in the 13th Bn of the Durham Light Infantry, landing in France on August 25th 1915. He was awarded the Military Medal announced in the London Gazette on January 25th 1918. He survived the war and passed away in 1973.
