A SHAKO PLATE WORN BY PRIVATE ROBERT LEGG OF THE 40TH FOOT AT WATERLOO
The plate is very toned and is mounted in a Victorian-era frame, probably framed circa 1880.
The reverse of the frame has the following written on it. ' From the home of Edward Legg from Tolpuddle (who gave evidence against the Dorchester Labourers in 1834) This badge was worn by my grandfather Robert Legg at Waterloo, to be given to Edward’.
Robert Legg served with the 1st Battalion 40th Regiment of Foot at Waterloo with Captain S. Streton's Company.

An Airforce release book belonging to the recipient, his training notes, observers wings; Logbook with entries from 1943 to 1946; A photograph album which features stills and aerial torpedo and bombing photographs; A number of letters from his mother are present and photographs of Hudson; and two silver hallmarked ashtrays, one engraved 'R.A.F 144 Squadron, Who Shall Stop Us'.
